Back-walk Massage
|
Back-walk Massage
Therapy ("Ashiatsu") is a type of massage in which
the therapist manipulates the client's back by
walking on it. Ashiatsu has its roots in the
Far East. Although stories vary regarding
exactly where and when this form of massage began,
its origins can be traced back to ancient India,
China, Japan, and other Asian countries.
Back-walk Therapy is pending installation of
special equipment.

Body Massage
|
A
body massage (often called a "full body massage")
indicates that the therapist will massage all
major areas of your body -- head, neck, shoulders,
arms, hands, back, legs and feet. If you
have a problem area that needs extra attention,
such as a sore back or tight shoulders, you can
ask the therapist to spend more time on those
areas. The therapist will accommodate your
request by spending shorter time on less
troublesome areas. 30 minutes often isn't
adequate to impart the full benefits of a massage
to your body. We recommend at least 60
minutes or longer. However, we also understand
your schedule may allow for only 30 minutes.
A 30 minute session may help take the edge off
your stress.

Combo Massage
|
A "Combo Massage" is a blend
of two massages: 30 minutes of therapy for your
back and neck, 30 minutes for your feet. Foot
massages improve circulation, stimulate muscles,
reduce tension, and often ease pain. It's
important to take good care of the feet,
particularly for women during pregnancy. In
the third trimester, swelling from fluid retention
is common. A foot massage helps reduce this
swelling. A "Combo Massage" is offered only
for 60 minutes per session at this time. A
foot massage is not available separately.

Deep Tissue Massage
|
Deep tissue massage is a
technique that focuses primarily on the deeper
layers of muscles and the fascia.
Sometimes this involves the therapist using
firmer pressure to reach key areas, which is why
this massage is often recommended only for
people who are comfortable with a more intense
touch. Deep tissue massage can also refer
to gentle yet sustained pressure. The
belief that deep pressure equals pain is a myth;
however, the benefits of deep tissue massage are
beyond question. Deep tissue massage may
offer stress relief, ease pain, make movement
easier, and lower heart rate and blood pressure.

Hot Stone
+
Massage
|
Hot stones are actually just
very comfortably warmed, and are flat to conduct
warmth into your body. Hot stones are used
in conjunction with other massage therapies.
Stones are commonly placed on or along your spine,
but may be used on other areas of your body
requiring treatment. If you have high blood
pressure, diabetes, varicose veins, migraines,
rheumatoid arthritis, decreased pain sensitivity,
recent wounds, areas of weakened or inflamed skin,
tumors, implants, or you take any form of blood
thinners, please check with your doctor before
getting a hot stone massage. Hot stones are
available at your request.

Swedish Massage
|
This is the best-known type
of massage therapy performed today. A
primary goal of a Swedish massage technique is to
aid in relaxing the entire body. Swedish
massage consists of a specific set of massage
motions and techniques: Sliding, kneading,
friction, and "percussion", a gentle to modest
"drumming" to help relax knotted muscles. It
may also include joint movements, with the client
actively or passively stretching and bending
joints with assistance by the massage therapist.

Targeted Massage
|
Targeted massage treatments
are specifically designed to deliver optimal
results to specific trouble areas such as your
neck, shoulders, and lower back. Targeted
massage may consist of deep tissue massage and
other techniques in these areas. Clients
with a history of varicose veins or other issues
in their legs may not be candidates for targeted
massage of the lower legs.
